Portobello Nursery has a key person system. This means that each member of staff has a group of children for whom she/he is particularly responsible ,who works with you to make sure that what we provide is right for your child’s particular needs and interests.
When your child first starts at Portobello, the Key person will help your child to settle and will help your child to benefit from the activities. Your child shall receive a Tracker and learning journal, in which the staff write the activities (planned and free play) that your child enjoyed during the day along with pictures of activities.
The Staff develop good relationships with parents to secure knowledge of children’s individual routine needs. Policies, procedures and parental permissions are clear to support good practice. Systems have been put in place to monitor and evaluate the services we provide are good, securing a basis for continual improvement and better outcomes for children. The Key worker ensures that children receive personalised learning throughout their daily routine supporting key learning areas required by Early Years Foundation Stage ( EYFS). The Early Years Foundation Stage (2014) provides a framework by which the children’s development is assessed and further development is planned.
